Many conservative lawmakers possess the goal of ending abortion to mark the anniversary of the 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade. Some pro-life Americans also plan to march on Washington this weekend and Monday in protest of the decision, which established a woman’s choice to abortion, according to a New York Times article.
The legislators are drafting and introducing laws to ban abortions about 20 weeks after conception, the article states. Fifteen states now possess both governors and legislators who are pro-life, versus 10 last year, according to a report by Naral, a pro-choice organization. Twenty-nine governors now are pro-life, versus 21 last year, the report states.
