LAWRENCE, Kan. – OCU qualified two for the 2011 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships this weekend in the Bill Easton Classic at Anschutz Field House.
Kelsey Donald, a freshman from Fort Worth, Texas, posted a time of 59.03 seconds in her 400 meters. Donald took third and earned her spot as a “B” qualifier.
Donald also ran the anchor leg on the 4×400 m relay team of Asher Beasley, Tanieka Evans and Racine McClure that took second this weekend with a time of 4:07.62.
John Parks, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas, ran a qualifying time of 49.60 s in the 400 meters. Parks also earned a spot at nationals in the “B” group with his time. He is the second person to qualify for the event thus far this indoor track season. Last season, Parks placed fourth in this event at the indoor nationals with a time of 48.72 s and second in the outdoor season turning in a 47.05 s performance.
“We got two national qualifiers this weekend in Kelsey and John,” OCU coach Michael Houston said. “I’m just really happy to start qualifying runners for nationals with our season just beginning.”
OCU takes to the track next at the Texas Tech Open Jan. 14-15 in Lubbock, Texas.
