Brittany Davis was named as the national grand prize winner for Country Music Television’s Country Strong Singing Challenge. The music theater junior received the most public votes out of 16 regional winners.
Sony Records officials called Davis on Thursday to notify her of her win.
Voting on the contestants began Dec. 10 at cmt.com.
Davis was chosen as the regional grand prize winner from a pool of 27 local singers. Davis sang the song “Country Strong” a cappella in front of a panel of local celebrity judges. Judges included a recording artist, radio DJs, and a KFOR-TV personality, said Michelle Langston, publicist for Sony Entertainment. Entrants were judged on their execution, originality and stage presence, she said.
“Brittany was chosen for her fantastic voice,” Langston said. “She is incredibly talented.
“We could not have been more pleased with the judges selection. This is a big deal.”
