Student Publications is launching a new website today at mediaocu.com. The Student Publications staff created the new website so campus media outlets could be better integrated.
More than traditional news will be posted on the website. It will contain sections for lifestyles, arts & entertainment, sports, and opinion as well. The site combines news stories with visual elements.
“The new website includes everything from photography and news articles to video and blogs,” said Amanda Alfanos, editor-in-chief. “We wanted a website that wasn’t exclusively for Student Publications but also for other mass communications media like broadcasting students.”
MediaOCU will be updated daily and will feature weekly column updates. Look for upcoming, local events on Thursdays, OCU sports updates on Fridays and movie or restaurant reviews on Saturdays. There also will be a weekly Alvin’s drink review.
Michael Roselle, web editor, said feedback is an integral part of MediaOCU.
“We want students to get involved with MediaOCU,” Roselle said. “We want to hear what news students want to see online and in the newspaper. We also want to be a place where students can discuss current events.”
Expect to see MediaOCU contests in the coming weeks with local restaurant gift card giveaways.
I encourage you to visit MediaOCU this week and check out what’s happening in the campus community.
You also can keep up with MediaOCU updates by following OCUStuPub on Twitter or by friending Stu Pub on Facebook.
The Student Publications Editorial Board would love to hear your feedback on website and newspaper content. For more information e-mail us at stupub@okcu.edu or call the Newsroom at 208-6068.
