Beth Kligerman, head of talent and talent development for The Second City in Chicago, will visit the school of theater Saturday.
Kligerman has worked at The Second City for over 20 years. She has produced countless pieces and oversees casting for numerous projects.
“She has seen so much talent at Second City and I can’t wait to see what knowledge she has to impart on us,” said Leslie Marie Coffman, acting senior.
The Second City first opened in 1959 as a small cabaret comedy theater. It has become the most influential and prolific comedy theater around the world, according to their website.
Kligerman has worked with comedy stars such as Key & Peele’s Keegan-Michael Key and SNL’s Jason Sudeikis.
“My direct goal has always been to support talent in what they do,” Kligerman said in Culture Catalyst, a podcast by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
She will watch the OCU Improv Troupe perform and will answers questions about Second City and how to break into the sphere of comedic performance, according to an email from Dean Brian Parsons.
Coffman is the president of the Improv Troupe.
“We are super pumped and looking forward to the opportunity,” Coffman said.
Kligerman’s masterclass is at 2 p.m. on Feb. 6 in The Burg Theater in the Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center.
