OCU women’s cross country took third in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships at Gordon Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla.
Sophomore Sarah Moore provided OCU’s 21st-ranked women with a third overall showing.
Five Stars finished the 5,000-meter run in the top 25.
Moore’s 18:03.66 led the Stars. Freshman Michaela Werner came in eighth with a time of 18:37.42.
Junior Rileigh Darby-McClure came in 11th with 18:48.30, and freshman Taylor Harrill came in with a time of 19:23.14.
Junior Kaitlin Pontikes rounded out the top five Stars with a finish of 19:25.52.
Senior Raechel Brown recorded a time of 19:48.48, while sophomore Madeline Boehlke recorded 19:50.11.
“We ran well,” Coach Matt Aguero said. “We knew coming into the meet that there are four really strong teams in our conference, and we thought we could go anywhere from first to fourth. We got third, so I think we have a good chance to get all the girls in the national meet.”
Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., and Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas turned in scores of 47 points, but Oklahoma Baptist University won the SAC Tournament.
Moore, Werner and Darby-McClure received all-SAC team honors.
The Stars will run in the NAIA Championships Nov. 22 in Lawrence, Kan.
