OCU men’s cross country took back-to-back Sooner Athletic Conference Championships Saturday at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla.
The Stars captured consecutive conference titles and got the league’s team berth into the NAIA Championships.
Seven Stars finished the 8,000-meter run in the top 20.
Junior Peter Koskey finished first and led the Stars with 24 minutes, 47.87 seconds. Junior Arya Bahreini came in third with 25:16.83, while freshman Csaba Matko came in fourth with 25:32.97.
Freshman Michael Vercoe-Curtis came in sixth with 25:47.86, and sophomore Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris rounded out the top five for the Stars finishing eighth with a 26:07.18.
Senior Kyle Wardwell came with a time of 26:26:50, while junior Reno Blum came with 26:20.59.
Juniors Dylan Smith-Sutton crossed at 27:23.55, and Alexander Knight at 29:44.52.
“I was really happy with how everyone performed as a whole,” Coach Matt Aguero said. “We looked really good.”
Koskey, Bahreini, Matko, Vercoe-Curtis, Wahpepah-Harris, Wardwell and Blum all earned all-SAC conference team. Coach Connor Holt was honored as SAC coach of the year.
The Stars will run in the NAIA Championships Nov. 22 in Lawrence, Kan.
