Netflix has acquired exclusive streaming rights to The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life, an Oscar-nominated documentary short about pianist and Holocaust survivor Alice Herz-Sommer. The film will be available April 1. It’s subject, believed to have been the oldest-living Holocaust survivor, died on Sunday at the age of 110. To read more on the short, click here.
Rainn Wilson and David Morse have joined the cast of upcoming serial killer trilogy The Boy. The trilogy will track the childhood of a future serial killer, depicting the character at ages 9, 14 and 18 and ending with his transformation into a mass murderer. Craig Macneill will direct from a screenplay he wrote with Clay McLeod Chapman, who created the characters in his novel Miss Corpus. For more on the project, click here.
WWE Studios has acquired U.S. distribution and worldwide remake rights to France’s Les Reines du Ring, after partnering with Warner Bros. on the original film. The story follows a mother who attempts to reconnect with her estranged son by becoming a WWE Diva. “We are excited to acquire distribution and remake rights to a wonderfully entertaining comedy like Queens of the Ring,” said Michael Luisi, president of WWE Studios. “This film gives WWE Studios the opportunity to introduce a feel good story to a broad audience, while serving up a film we know our core fans will also enjoy.” To read more on the project, click here.
