A majority of the candidates who campaigned had a platform based on communication from SGA to the student body and student organizations.
Candidates discussed several communications and transparency issues with SGA and made note of what they might do differently if elected.
The platforms promised more open communication and to ask students what they need and want from SGA and administration.
The incoming officers are encouraged to keep their promise and communicate with students, faculty, staff, and administration about events, issues or funds relating to SGA and the campus community.
Students have expressed concern with transparency of the student government, and the new officers have an opportunity to follow through on their platforms to be an efficient governing body that is representative of all OCU students.
SGA plays an important role on our campus community in ensuring that student voices are heard. The SGA president sits on the Board of Trustees, and each branch works in the appropriations process, which governs the allocation of thousands of dollars to different student organizations.
Congratulations to the newly elected SGA officials. The campus community looks forward to working with you.
