Donations made by faculty in an effort called Campus Campaign entered them in one of several prize drawings on March 29.
All donations benefit students and the OCU community.
Campus Campaign is an annual effort to acquire donations toward scholarships and student programs on campus from employees.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to donate to an area that they are passionate about as a way to give back to the OCU community.
“I think people love working at OCU,” said Mandy Heaps, director of annual giving.
“We see how amazing the kids are on campus every day, and this is our chance to impact their experience at the university, not just through the work that we do but through a financial contribution.”
Through Campus Campaign, OCU employees can donate to a specific scholarship fund, a specific program, or to the OCU Fund, which is the unrestricted account that lets the university fulfill any unforeseen financial needs.
This is the first year Campus Campaign has offered prizes for contributing to the effort. Prizes include everything from iPod shuffles, and Blu-ray players to a Thunder package with two tickets to the Knicks game.
“We want to incentivize giving,” she said. “We want to make Campus Campaign something that people really want to participate in.
“Whether they’re giving $5, $50 or $500, they know that their gift is important.”
Students are the primary beneficiaries of the campaign.
“I think that it would be really great if faculty gave back,” said Logan Herod, music education sophomore. “That would show that they care about where they work and the students that they teach more than just being a teacher.”
Faculty and staff interested in donating can call Mandy Heaps at 208-5118.
