Police reports released Oct. 23

Traffic Collision Thursday, 10-18-12 5:20pm; NW 23rd and McKinley Avenue; Incident # 12-10-029; driver # 1: Jennifer Anne Casteel (no OCU affiliation), vehicle: silver 2004 Honda UAX; driver # 2: Quan Yen Dong-Ngoc (no OCU affiliation), vehicle: blue 2007 Toyota CEE; Officer Josh Pankowsky observed a traffic collision at NW 23rd and McKinley Avenue. He was immediately informed that both drivers were not injured. The officer determined that driver # 1 had stopped on McKinley Avenue and proceeded into the roadway colliding with driver # 2. Ms. Casteel was issued a citation for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention. Wrecker service was not needed and both drivers exchanged insurance information.

Injure or Destroy Property Less Than $2500 Friday, 10-19-12 7:15pm; N. Loeffler parking lot; Incident # 12-10-030; victim: student; damaged vehicle: tan 1999 Ford Crown Victoria 4dr; Sergeant Michael Kavenius was dispatched to the N. Loeffler parking lot regarding a vehicle damaged by a baseball. Upon arrival he met with the student/victim who she parked her vehicle at approximately 2:00pm and returned at 7:00pm to discover her windshield was damaged. Sergeant Kavenius observed a 6” impact with radiating cracks located on the center extreme right side of the windshield. The victim requested the name and phone number of the Risk Manager. The sergeant informed her that the parking lots have posted signage informing of the potential damage from baseballs and that OCU is not liable for the damage. She was provided with the name and phone number of Risk Manager Mr. Ian Wolfe. Photos were taken of the damage and the victim made a written statement. In anticipation of a phone call, a copy of the police report was forwarded to Mr. Wolfe.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Saturday, 10-20-12 1:57am; NW 29th and N. Classen Boulevard; Incident # 12-10-031; arrested: Dylan Chase Roberson (no OCU affiliation); impounded vehicle: red 2008 Pontiac G6 convertible; Sergeant Michael Kavenius observed a red Pontiac convertible travelling at a high rate of speed south on N. Classen Boulevard. He eventually had to use the emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle at Carl’s Jr. restaurant located at NW 23rd and Broadway Avenue. The driver said he was aware of speeding and had just left a tavern. The sergeant detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage about the driver’s breath and person. He failed all field dexterity tests including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The driver, Mr. Dylan Roberson (no OCU affiliation), was arrested for DUI and he agreed to take the breath test. Because none of the intoxilyzer machines were operational, he was transported to the Oklahoma City Police Department where Mr. Roberson refused to properly blow into the intoxilyzer which constituted a refusal. Mr. Roberson was transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center for incarceration. Sergeant Kavenius submitted an Officer’s Affidavit and Notice of Revocation/Disqualification form to DPS which will subsequently revoke his DL.

Public Intoxication Sunday 10-21-12 12:50am; NW 26th and Douglas Avenue (parking lot); Incident # 12-10-032; arrested: Emily Mary Jane Spradlind (no OCU affiliation); involved person: Deputy Jason Bass (Oklahoma County Deputy working security at Kamp’s Bar); Sergeant John Jackson was flagged down by Deputy Jason Bass who had an 18 year old female in custody. She was extremely intoxicated, disoriented, and was missing a shoe. She was also disheveled and belligerent. Sergeant Jackson took her into custody and transported her to the Public Inebriation Alternative Center where she registered a BAC of .157%; At 2:52am the center notified OCUPD that Ms. Spradlind became combative and was throwing furniture in her room. The sergeant went to the center and transported her to the Oklahoma County Detention Center at 3:15am for incarceration.

 

Possession of Stolen Property Monday, 10-22-12 3:22am; 2400 block of N. Douglas Avenue; Incident # 12-10-034; arrested: one juvenile male (no OCU affiliation); victim: David Rose (no OCU affiliation) residence: 1520 NW 18th; involved person: Captain G. Johnston (Captain Oklahoma City Police Department); evidence: $20.37 (misc. coins); one Midas invoice # 0206107 (w/victim’s information) and one Mitsubishi plastic sleeve; Sergeant John Jackson with new OCUPD officer Roland Garrett observed a male juvenile running west at NW 23rd and Douglas Avenue dressed in all black clothing. They stopped the subject and discovered the above evidence in his pockets. OCPD Captain G. Johnston arrived on scene and went to the residence affixed to the Mitsubishi plastic sleeve and discovered that the owner of the vehicle at that location was the victim of an auto burglary and was missing the above identifiable evidence. The juvenile was transported to the Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Center for incarceration. His parents or legal guardians were later notified. Sergeant Jackson will be filling felony charges of Possession of Stolen Property.

Alcohol Contact Monday, 10-22-12 3:55pm; Methodist Hall (dorm room); Incident # 12-10-035; suspect: student; involved person: RA; evidence: one half empty 750 ml bottle of liquor; Officer Kiel Pepper was dispatched to a dorm room at Methodist Hall regarding a bottle of liquor. Upon arrival he met with the RA who said she was performing a routine check and discovered the above evidence in the refrigerator. The officer photographed the bottle and poured the contents down the kitchen sink. This incident will be forwarded to the Dean of Students for administrative adjudication.
