Senators vote to fund $950 for two events

By Nathan Hatcher, Editor-in-Chief

More than 20 guests attended the Student Senate meeting Tuesday, Sept. 20 to show their support for the organization’s requesting funding.

Senate meetings are hosted at 8 p.m. Tuesdays in the Great Hall in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center.

Senators voted to approve funding for $950 of the requested $4,020.

View the proposed bills:

-SB 002

-SB 003

-SB 004

SB 002 was amended down to $700 to cut requested funding for food and T-shirts for Chinese Students and Scholars Association’s Chinese Cultural Gala.

The event will be hosted at 5 p.m. Sept. 30 in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center.

SB 003 was also amended, reducing funding for advertising and making the total $250 for Muslim Student Organization’s Interfaith Panel Discussion event.

MSO will host the event Oct. 13.

Senators discussed amendments for SB 004, but voted to table the bill until next week’s Senate meeting to clarify food prices for Korean Student Association’s Annual Food Festival.

KSA will host the event Oct. 20 depending on whether or not they receive funding from Senate.

The approved funding leaves $14,500 in rolling appropriations.
