Students invited to spend a Night on the Paseo

By Farris Willingham, Staff Writer

Student Government Association will host Night on the Paseo, a new event designed to attract students to the Paseo Arts District.

The event will be hosted Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m.

“We were recently approached by the owner of Paseo Grill and Sauced,” he said. “He wanted to partner with the university to bring more students to the area because of the cultural enrichment it could bring.”

SGA will be giving away $5 food vouchers that students can use at Paseo Grill, Picasso’s or Sauced, Sams said.

“Craig’s Emporium and Kathy’s on Paseo will offer a 10 percent student discount,” he said. “We will also have open galleries with art ranging from photography to pottery for students to tour and performers set up outside of Sauced.”

SGA wants to provide a safe area for students to enjoy performers and food and to escape the campus environment, Sams said.

“With the variety of shops, venues with open mic nights, restaurants, and festivals, it’s a completely different area that would be a great fit for OCU students,” Sams said.

Shuttle buses will be designated to pick up students starting at 5 p.m. at the Aduddell Fitness Center and will make trips every 30 minutes, said Marcus Sams, vice president of student activities.
