OKLAHOMA CITY – OCU’s Rich Hawkins was tapped by the Sooner Athletic Conference as pitcher of the week for April 11-17.

Hawkins, a junior from Edmond, Okla., captured the honor after picking up two wins for the Stars. Hawkins was the starter in a 14-1 win at Southern Nazarene and came in for relief and the victory in a 10-9 battle at Mid-America Christian. Hawkins combined for a 1.08 earned run average with five strike outs and 10 hits allowed in 8.1 innings of work last week.

On the season, Hawkins has compiled a 7-3 record and a team-low 1.73 earned run average in 16 appearances. He has given up 48 hits and 11 earned runs in 57.1 innings of work while striking out 48 batters.

The Stars (35-7), ranked third in NAIA baseball, face off with 12th-ranked Northwood (Texas) in an afternoon battle of top tier teams at 3 p.m. April 19 at Jim Wade Stadium.
