Students will be among more than 200 attendees of an April 8 event on campus that will challenge 17 presenters will give the “talk of their lives.”

The first-ever TEDxOKC event will be hosted from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in Kerr-Mcgee Auditorium in Meinders School of Business.

TED and is a conference bringing people together from three worlds: technology, entertainment and design, according to a press release. Since then its scope has become more broad, providing a platform for thought leaders of various disciplines including business, science, culture, art and global issues.

Those that have been fortunate to attend TED conferences usually describe their experience as amazing and profound, the press release reads. TEDxOKC’s objective is to facilitate that enthusiasm and foster curiosity.

Presenters will cover topics ranging from talks on crisis response to a live painting demonstration.

“Our hope is use live painting to connect with people and to bring these forgotten pieces back to life and relevance. Many people that live within a few blocks of some of the world’s greatest works of art, don’t even know they exist,” said Kyle Taylor, one of the painters and an Oklahoma Christian University graduate.

Tickets for the event are sold out, but officials have recorded names of those who would like to attend future events.
