Author to speak as part of inaugural celebrations

OCU’s Distinguished Speaker series will present David Brooks at 7:30 p.m. April 6 in Henry J. Freede Wellness and Activity Center, according to the Distinguished Speaker Series website.

Brooks is an opinion columnist for The New York Times, a frequent analyst on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and is a commentator on “The News Hour with Jim Lehrer.”

Brooks has recently written a book entitled “The Social Animal: The Hidden Sources of Love, Character, and Achievement.” In this book Brooks explains the value of a liberal arts education rooted in the humanities.

The title of Brooks’ speech for OCU is “Liberal Arts for the Social Animal.” It is free and open to the public.

The speech will wrap up a day of symposium as a part of President Robert Henry’s inaugural celebrations.
