Senators pass nearly $1,500 in bills

By Susannah Waite, Editor-in-Chief

Student Senate passed three bills at their Feb. 22 meeting, leaving about $3,150 left in rolling appropriations.

There was about $4,600 left in the fund before the meeting.

Multicultural Student Association requested about $500 in SB 040 for FACES International Showcase. Funding requests included $200 in prize money and $120 for auditorium rental. The bill was authored by Sens. Edwards Ayo-Odugbesean (international) and Sooner Davenport (social sciences).

The bill passed with no amendments.

SB 041 proposed $300 in funding to Kappa Sigma for Casino Royale, the fraternity’s annual fundraiser for Relay For Life. The bill, written by Sen. Sarah Cook (Greek/president pro-tempore), requested money for four casino tables.

This bill also passed with no amendments.

OCU Marketing and Management Club received about $730 in funding for the Student Professional Luncheon in SB 040. The bill was authored by Sen. Caleb Howard (freshman at-large).

The group only was given $300 in allotments this year, but it’s not enough for the event to be a success, the bill reads.

Sen. Sarah Cook (Greek) proposed an amendment to the bill to slash funding

The group initially requested about $2,000 for the luncheon.
