By Amanda Alfanos, Editor-in-Chief

A staff member suffers from a head injury after working to remodel the 5th floor of the Dulaney-Browne Library.

Kathy Kilpatrick, facilities staff member, was injured on the 5th floor of the Dulaney-Browne Library on Tuesday when she removed metal shelves from the top proportion of the frame. She said the top metal shelf fell with one of the corners striking the back of her head, creating a 1-inch laceration, according to a Sept. 21 police report.

Emergency personnel said she will require one to two sutures to close the laceration. Kilpatrick refused EMSA transportation and made arrangements to have Marc Anthony, facilities staff member, transport her to St. John’s Occupational Health Center for treatment, according to the report.

Detective Cheri Bolz was dispatched to the scene of the accident. Oklahoma City Fire Department Engine No. 10 arrived on scene at 11 a.m. and EMSA arrived at 11:04 a.m., according to the report.
